Analysts consider Johnson Controls "shareholder-friendly"

March 26, 2009 -- Johnson Controls ranks among America's most shareholder-friendly companies, according to Institutional Investor Magazine.

In the magazine's March issue, Johnson Controls was first in the consumer -- autos & auto parts category. The ranking reflects the opinions of 675 financial analysts and portfolio managers at more than 375 investment management firms with combined assets of $5.8 trillion in U.S. equities.

"We're pleased to be recognized again by the institutional investment community," said Glen Ponczak, director, Investor Relations, for Johnson Controls. "During these uncertain times for the stock market, we believe it's more important than ever to be accessible, responsible, open and transparent with investors, and to make sure they fully understand the strong business fundamentals and long-term growth strategies of Johnson Controls."

In making their choices, the financial professionals surveyed were instructed to consider the effectiveness of companies' governance and investor relations as part of their overall efforts to maximize shareholder value.

This is the magazine's fourth-annual ranking; Johnson Controls has topped the list in its category each year.
